Greg Emslie of East London put his ten years of international experience to good use when he won the premier 3A rated Men’s division of 2010 Mr Price WP Open in four foot surf at Long Beach, Kommetjie at the weekend. While spectators and officials baked in the plus 40C temperatures on the beach the 33 year old former World Tour campaigner put together a hot performance in the water, posting 12 points to runner up Warwick “Wok” Wright of Moullie Point’s 11.5 heat score. Kommetjie local Matthew Bromley came third and Jaco Steyn of Melkbosstrand was fourth.

COOLANGATTA, Queensland/Australia (Thursday 4 March, 2010) – Jordy Smith completed one of the best days of his burgeoning career by beating nine-time World Champion Kelly Slater (USA) and current World No. 3 Bede Durbidge (AUS), two of the biggest names in competitive surfing, from the Quiksilver Pro Gold Coast presented by Land Rover and move into the semifinals at the first stop on the 2010 ASP World Tour.

The Mossel Bay local is currently in Hawaii riding epic waves with a bunch of other youngsters from around the world under the direction of Billabong Australia’s international marketing manager and international junior team manger Sasha Stocker.

The Mr Price WP Open kicks of the 2010 Surfing South Africa Pro Surf Tour in the Cape Peninsula this weekend. The Cape Peninsula will play host to the first Surfing South Africa Pro Surf Tour this year when the Mr Price WP Open takes place somewhere in the southern Peninsula this Saturday and Sunday. With R30,000 in prizemoney on offer to surfers in the 3A Men’s, 2A Women’s and 2A Pro Junior divisions as well as precious PST points over 65 surfers from all parts of the country will be in action. Included in the entry list is nine time ASP World Tour competitor Greg Emslie who has made it clear that he wants to win this year's local Pro Surf Tour now that he is competing on the domestic circuit once again. The 33-year-old East London surfer, who retired from the World Tour at the end of 2009, will be looking to kick-off his 2010 campaign on the right note at this weekend’s Mr Price WP Open.
