Former ISA World Champions Simone Robb and Matthew Moir win Tigers Milk Winter Classic titles in small Muizenberg surf

Former ISA World Champions Matthew Moir and Simone Robb showed their class in tiny Muizenberg surf Sunday (June11th) when they won their respective Men’s and Womens Finals in the 2017 Tigers Milk Winter Classic, a WSL Speciality event.

The epic Men’s Longboard Final saw the four contestants giving a top class performance as they all posted high level scores in marginal surf. With just minutes to go defending champion Alfonso Peters held a narrow lead and looked certain to take his second title in a row but double World Champion never gave up and with just seconds to go caught the wave which gave him the lead and the title. Tough Muizenberg conditions on Day One of the Tigers Milk Winter Classic

Competitors on Day One of  the 2017 edition of the Tiger’s Milk Winter Classic had to negotiate plenty of white water on Day One of the event but despite this there were some strong performances in each of the Divisions that were held.

In the WSL Men’s Longboard Division former Tigers Milk winner and two time ISA World Champion Matthew Moir, Cape St Francis visitor Michael Hill, local campaigner Tao Farren Hefer and former Tigers Milk Varsity Division champion Norman Lotz all won their first round heats.
